It’s not that I cannot sleep,
I still fall asleep like an old walrus
the moment my head touches the pillow.
But it comes to me in my dreams
and those excerpts you show me,
I know each one of them precisely
for they are excerpts from my dreams.
Dear David I and Dear David II were the fictional responses to video letters I received from David Nazareno, an Argentinian film student. I used the few hints I got from his letters to create a resonating narration, finally using some of the footage that has been lingering around on my hard drives.
