SPEED/DATING/REFUGEES took place in the state hall of the Karlsruhe City Library on Friday, 03/06/2016 as a contribution to the exhibition „We Refugees - From The Right To Have Rights“ at Arts Association Karlsruhe.
With SPEED/DATING/REFUGEES Annika Gutsche created an experimental set-up - a possible course of action of many, which upon current debates and discourses finds itself in the midst of uncertainties, resentments and expectations. The concept: refugees and non-refugees meet for a speed dating at a central place in the city. A secluded room, tables in the middle, chairs on both sides, a signal every five minutes, everyone moves. This strategy of making as many people as possible meet in a designated place in a limited period of time eludes common forms of refugee aid and has been able to develop expedient dynamics.
This project won the ZKM grant 2016 (Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe)
